Pictures from NOAA Scallop Surveys, 2012-2016

Since 2012, NOAA has incorporated Habcam in its annual scallop survey to improve stock assessments of the Atlantic sea scallop, Placopecten magellanicus.

NOAA is tasked with conducting a stock assessment of the Atlantic sea scallop from the Gulf of Maine down to Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Traditionally, this survey was completed by conducting 10 minute dredge tows at hundreds of locations in the Atlantic (locations determined by a stratified random sampling design).
